The Promise

One additive.
Every property upgrade.

Add just 1% of SX-514 to standard Homopolymer PP — get the toughness of expensive Impact Copolymer at homopolymer cost, with no process changes.

Stop buying copolymers.

Swap your impact copolymer for standard Homopolymer PP + 1% SX-514 and feel the difference on your next trial run.

The mechanism,
the business case.

SX-514 is a beta-nucleating modifier. It doesn't blend anything into your polymer — it changes how the polypropylene crystallises. That's why you get copolymer-like toughness without paying for copolymer.

The mechanism

SX-514 nucleates the β-phase of polypropylene. β-phase crystallites absorb energy before crack propagation — that's how you get toughness at homopolymer stiffness.

The business case

Standard Homopolymer PP is significantly cheaper per kg than Impact Copolymer. Drop the copolymer, keep the performance, and the saving flows straight to your margin.

The production win

More uniform crystallisation means tighter tolerances, fewer rejects and better-looking parts. You feel it at the QC bench before you see it in the P&L.

Zero cost to try

Supplied as pellets. Blend with your existing PP at 0.5–2%. No new screw, no re-tooling, no capex — you can run a trial on next week's production slot.

Base Resin Compatibility

PP Homopolymer Random PP Copolymer Low Impact Copolymer

Works best with non-nucleated & non-clarified grades. Do not use with pre-nucleated PP or alpha-nucleating agents.

Do

  • Test in small batches first to confirm target properties
  • Use recommended processing conditions (200–230°C melt)
  • Compatible with CaCO3, TiO2, Glass Fiber & Color MB
  • Use moderate mold temps (40–50°C) for optimal beta-phase

Don't

  • Combine with strong alpha-nucleators (Talc, PP Clarifiers)
  • Blend with high ethylene copolymers or POE
  • Overheat or dwell above 250°C in the extruder
  • Use for multifilament or monofilament yarn applications

Where SX-514
Pays Off.

Typical scenarios where SX-514 changes the economics, plus independent technical reading on how it works. Ask us for anonymised data from customers running this setup today.

Scenario

Replacing Impact Copolymer in Automotive Battery Trays

Swap impact copolymer for PP Homopolymer + 1% SX-514. Hold HDT, hold impact spec, and pull raw-material cost out of every tray — typical savings are double-digit percentage points.

  • Industry: Automotive
  • Process: Injection Moulding
  • Why it works: β-phase = toughness at homopolymer cost

Scenario

Deeper Draws & Higher Regrind in Rigid Food Packaging

Integrate SX-514 into sheet extrusion to unlock deeper thermoforming draws with uniform wall thickness — while pushing regrind usage higher without losing spec.

  • Industry: Food Packaging
  • Process: Sheet Extrusion & Thermoforming
  • Why it works: β-phase sheet draws tougher + regrinds cleaner
